“I am using your assignment as inspiration for our assignment 1 this semester…” - Gavin Paul
“No other student in this subject has ever created a working gripper” -Subject Coordinator
It all begins with an idea.
While working on tasks, I develop new and better tailored strategies through early planning and continuous research into the topics. This provided me the capabilities to achieve full marks in the industrial robotics assignment with the design of a fully simulated robotic bartender, with the subject coordinator stating in writing “no other student in this subject has ever created a working gripper”. Over the project, I was required to:
Develop new ways to design a “collaborative” robot, which reduced collisions in simulation to effectively 0%.
found solutions that sped up path planning by more than half in a crunch situation with fast approaching deadlines.
Designed custom models and kinematic chains to utilise a Robotiq 3-Finger adaptive gripper.
and through this process, I designed a simulated and modelled UR5-e robotic arm and Robotiq 3-fingered adaptive gripper to enable grabbing of bottles of any size, unreliant on specialised drink containers. The result was so good in comparison to other students, that the model and code was taken to become the assignment for the coming years.
